Things I LOVE Thursday…..

So many great things have happened this week that deciding what to include in the Thursday LOVES is kind of hard, but l will give it a shot.

Today I LOVE:

Russell and Carlton goofing off at work!!
Yes, I know that I am 23 years old and you all are probably wondering why I still have a summer job….. Well here is the reason I ABSOLUTELY LOVE working as a lifeguard at our local city pool. For many of you, Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer, but for me the first day that I work at the pool marks the beginning of summer. Over the past five years I have made so many new friends, received free highlights from the sun and baked in the sun for hours.

This past week Damon and I went to our nearest Target store to look for lamps for the living room. After spending way too much time in the lamp aisle, Damon and I could not agree with each other on lamps. So, needless to say, I thought the trip to pick out lamps was a bust. I was just not willing to believe that there was not a set of lamps that we liked in this whole store. WAIT…as I was digging through the clearance items I spotted two lamps just sitting there. I loved them they were wrought iron and really unique. I quickly scooped both lamps up and went in search for Damon. I found him, and to my surprise he loved the lamps as well. Damon and I deciding on the same pair of lamps was the first plus, but the second plus was that the lamps were on clearance and rang up for $10.98. Yep that’s right only $11 for a lamp. Best buy of the day.

(oreo truffles)

By the name you all are probably wondering if you are reading the right blog, but yes you are in the right place. Damon and I made some monkey balls and OH, HOW I LOVE THEM! If you are wondering what monkey balls are I will explain; they are Oreos and cream cheese mixed together dipped in white chocolate. If you have never tried them I highly suggest you try them and fast. You do not know what you are missing!
Here is a link to the recipe and directions.

Hope you guys have enjoyed Things I LOVE Thursday!

Be Who You Are.....

The last couple of days I have been thinking a lot about what is Beauty? After spending quite sometime thinking about what the world thinks beauty is, I have discovered that the WORLD is wrong! The world says for someone to be beautiful they have to be tall, skinny, tan and flawless. Taking all that into consideration, by the world’s standards I am far from being beautiful.

Over time I have realized that no matter how hard I try I will never be what the world considers BEAUTIFUL, but I have come to terms that I am beautiful in my own way. The older I get, the easier it is for me to realize that “none of it is a big deal”.  Just be who you are!!
We all have insecurities, but do not let them hold you back!

Who I am:

I have no filter between my brain and mouth

I am always trying to make people laugh

I am a WIFE

I am an Aunt to three amazing nephews

I am a daughter

One day I will be a parent and one thing I will strive to instill in my children is to always be you, and love yourself. Be an individual!

Emily Maynard-Bachelorette 3

So I have a confession to make, I have not watched the Bachelor/Bachelorette in years. Yes, I know I am way behind the times. Several Mondays ago I ran across the Bachelorette, staring Emily Maynard, while I was waiting on my wonderful Monday night show to start Bethenny Ever After. After watching for about 30 minutes I really started hoping that she would find “True Love” on the show. Emily seems to be such a sweet, genuine and real person.

If you have not watched the Bachelorette already then here is a quick rundown on Emily Maynard:

·         Fiancée died in plane crash in 2004

·         Couple of weeks later found out she was pregnant with his baby

·         Winner of last season’s Bachelor show and got engaged to Brad Womack

·         Broke that off and now she is the Bachelorette

Now that I am pulling for Emily I figured that I should just blog about what happens each Monday night on the Bachelorette.
Last night’s episode opened my eyes about some of the guys. Of course I am totally pulling for Arie and Sean. On the other hand, Ryan is very nice on the eyes, but he is becoming over-confident and I am really beginning to question his intentions for being on the show.

My top pick Arie is definitely the one to beat. When Emily described him as someone who initially reminded her of her daughter’s father….The other boys might as well pack their bags. The date between Emily and Arie was so perfect and Dolly Parton gave them some pretty good advice. BUT WAIT….What about the make out session they had during the pre-rose ceremony party?? The other guys were very jealous.

The second runner up would be Sean. He is reliable, faithful and adorable. I think Emily would do just fine with a fellow like Sean. Another reason I like Sean is because I honestly believe that he would be a wonderful father to Emily’s daughter Ricki.  Sean even played on that heart string last night when he told Emily “I’d be Ricki’s father”.

Kalon and Alessandro were the jerks of the night. Kalon is condescending. Too bad she did not kick his butt off last night. She stood up for herself and called him on it… You go girl! When Alessandro called her daughter a compromise I knew he was done for.

I hope that my run through of last night’s show will get you guys interested in watching the Bachelorette ever Monday night starting at 8:00 pm!!

Leave a comment and let me know if you are watching on Monday nights and let me know what you think about the guys.

Things I LOVE Thursday…..

After thinking about this for a while, I have decided to dedicate a whole day to the things I LOVE!!
Welcome to the first official things I LOVE Thursday….
Today I love:

John Mayer’s new album Born and Raised

The other night Damon and I went to Wal-Mart to pick up the new John Mayer album. I know you all are asking why we went and bought the whole album with all of the technology we have today; well the answer is simple, Damon and I are not really technology savvy. The other reason we bought the album is because we just simply like the feel of a CD!

The new industrial home décor trend

With this new and upcoming trend I have started adding some industrial accents to my own home. My home is a mix of a little bit of everything! Things I pick up from vintage stores, home décor stores and even yard sales.
(Stay tuned I will give a whole blog to my favorite local stores where I find lots of little goodies!!)

Summer is almost here!!! I love the smell of summer…fresh cut grass; someone firing up the grill; kids playing in the sprinkler; and my favorite, the smell of tanning oil on skin while it is frying in the summer sun. What about the heat of summer? We all know living here in South Georgia we have some extremely HOT summers and when you factor in the humidity level, it is downright MUGGY, but there is just something about South Georgia summers. Especially, summer night’s right before the sun goes down and the fire flies start to come out. There’s nothing sweeter!

“So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday.”
Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

When I first started my blog back in January I had been only married for about six months and in a little over two months my wonderful husband and I will have been married for a whole year. Wow how time flies.

Before I was married people would always tell me how hard marriage is and I would just nod my head and smile.  Not until I was married did I start to understand what people were trying to tell me. I think marriage is one of the greatest blessings anyone can have and I am really grateful for it every single day. With almost a year of marriage I have learned that marriage is something that you have to work on every day. I look at our marriage as a “master piece in progress”.

No I am not going to pretend that my marriage is perfect and that it is always magical. Life happens, dishes have to be washed, laundry has to be done and yes, the trash even has to be taken out. But I can tell you the love that Damon and I share with each other is magical and I would never trade that for anything.

These three tips have kept our marriage fun and exciting:

1)      Keep date night alive—Date night does not have to be some big night on the town it can be as simple as riding to town for ice cream and a red box.
2)      Be spontaneous- We do not have children yet and we use this to our advantage. We do not have a strict schedule—A couple of weeks ago we redid our flower beds at 10:30 p.m.
3)      Adore each other- We call it “being up each other’s butts” Damon works twelve hours shifts three nights a week and with me having a day schedule sometimes we catch each other on the passing. When we do have time together we try to spend as much time together as we can doing whatever shopping, yard work or even just walking on the farm.

I am not a marriage expert by any means but, Love just for the sake of loving!
